The OG shop! We met at a christmas market and all decided to take the plunge and open a store front together. None of us had true business experience but by collaborating we were able to create a new retail destination for vintage and japanese stationary plus community building in crescent heights!
Moonlight Books and Gifts
Our second shop with a unique spin on showcasing books and graphic novels written by asian authors! We also provide space to over 40 local vendors to share and showcase their products.

Strawberry Boots
Michiko loves all things Japanese culture.Having grown up in the Japanese community, and with plenty of small business experience, Michiko turned her passion of sharing japanese culture and products into Strawberry Boots. When shes not curating cool japanese products for the shop shes also selling houses as a licensed realtor!
Prairie Bazaar
Started by two vintage loving sisters, Lee and Ellen started their vintage clothing and housewares business online. Eventually they had their own pop up store front in the east village seacans. We met and bonded over our shared passion for local business and love for cute things.
What are we all about?
We are a group of friends who call Calgary our home. In 2019 we decided to embark on the scary journey of business ownership and co-founded the Tigerstedt and Friends Market together located in the historic Tigerstedt Block.
Started by Alice, Michiko, Ellen and Lee.
In 2023 we opened our second shop in Chinatown called Moonlight.
What makes us special?
We love to volunteer, give back and also provide retail opportunities to small business owners in Calgary by showcasing different local artisans!
Our history
Seems like just yesterday that we met!
By sharing in a retail space together, we are able to grow our businesses collectively and make a difference in our community.
Dec 2018 - Crescent Heights Christmas Market Alice meets Ellen, Lee, Michiko for the first time. The vibes were right!
Jan 2019 - An empty storefront appears on Centre Street. Alice does a call out for pop up opportunities. What was meant to be a week long pop up has now become 4 years!
March 2020- A new world with the pandemic, we close our shop and start to do curbside pick up, online orders, and use the time to educate our community about covid and financial literacy.
2021 and 2022 are a blur! We continue to grow our business (including the basement), repaint our storefront to a bright pink colour. We get new branding and finally have a sign!
2023 - We open Moonlight Books and Gifts in Chinatown!
